  1. Mildred Midkiff (Distinguished Faculty) - ALJ Faculty from 1956 to 1970; Vocal music and music appreciation teacher who came to ALJ when school opened in 1956; Prior to ALJ taught at Jonathan Dayton Regional from 1945-1956; Member of the NJ Music Educators Association and founded the NJ Retired Music Educators Association; Degrees in English and History and Music from Trenton State and an MS in Music Education from University of Colorado; Had a profound impact on the lives of many of her students; Over 100 students returned for a tribute recital at ALJ. "Middy"  passed away in 2002.

  2. Vinnie and Eileen(Sywec)Vacaro (CommunityContributors-Class of 1972) - Eileen and Vinnie were high school sweethearts  graduating  from  ALJ  in  1972  and later marrying; They are the proprietors of Vaccoro's Bakery which is not only a successful family business, but a major supporter  of  the  township  of  Clark  and  many local organizations.

  3. Steven Shofi (Crusader Pride - Class of 1973) - Steve was an active member of many organizations while at ALJ including the football team, Key Club, Student Council, and Track; He graduated from Kean in 1977 with a BA in Health and Physical Education and later received his MA in teaching; From 1977 to 1997 Steve taught in the Union County Regional District, which included ALJ; After the de-regionalization, Steve taught at David Brearley from 1997 to 2015; Steve was an assistant varsity football coach at ALJ for over 15 years; head bowling coach for 14 years; and varsity lacrosse coach for four years; Steve continues to support ALJ and is at many events supporting the Crusaders; He wrote and copyrighted the song "To Be a Crusader".

  4. Megan Columbia Walsh (Accomplished Professional - Class of 1981) - Meg is recognized internationally as a pre-eminent authority in digital marketing, mobile, social, sales, marketing communications and business process; Meg Graduated from Rider University in 1985 with a degree in Business and Communications and is a member of the Rider Sports Hall of Fame for both volleyball and basketball; Meg has founded and been CEO for four successful companies including HealthTech Digital Communications; CBS Healthwatch, and most recently Inverse Mobile which was recently acquired by Ernest and Young. Meg will serve as a Partner at Ernst and Young in the Global Lead Digital Transformation and Marketing Excellence Division; Columbia-Walsh was named one of the top 40 healthcare transformers worldwide and profiled in Forbes' "Self-Made Women" series featuring women who didn't come from a world of power or wealth but still found their path to success.

  5. Eugene A. Castagna - (Accomplished Professional - Class of 1983) - Gene is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Bed Bath and Beyond; Gene has worked at Bed Bath and Beyond since 1994 and previously served as Assistant Treasurer, Vice President of Finance; Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer; Gene graduated with an Accounting degree from Wake Forest University and is Certified Public Accountant

  6. Arthur W. Lundgren - (Volunteer/Crusader Pride - Class of 1959) - Art is a member of the first sophomore class to enroll at Johnson Regional High School graduating in 1959. He was an All-State baseball pitcher (16 strikeouts in the Carteret game senior season)and a member of the Bel Canto singing group. Art earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision at Newark State Teachers’ College (aka Kean University). His entire forty-year career was as an educator in the Rahway Public Schools as a teacher, Vice-Principal and Principal. After retiring, Art joined the adjunct faculty at Kean University. Art has volunteered with many organizations including Town Council in Fanwood, a certified EMT for the Berkeley Heights Volunteer Emergency Squad, and as usher and altar server at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He also remains active with the Kean University Alumni Association. In 2008, Art along with Tom McManamy, founded and organized the Arthur L Johnson High School Alumni Association. The goal of the Association is to assist ALJ graduates in planning reunions and assisting ALJ graduates to stay connected. The most important goal however, is  to support current ALJ students. None of this would have been possible if not for Art’s tireless efforts serving as President of the ALJ Alumni Association in support of ALJ and its students.  Art resides in Berkeley Heights with his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Jane, and their son, Christopher. He has a daughter Bonnie, her husband Danny Gara and enjoys two granddaughters, Melissa and Allison.
